Hi, I’m Saci Kovach. Originally from Hungary, I’ve been based in Guatemala for the past couple of years, where Fueguita was born.
Textile art has always been part of my life. I learned embroidery, crochet, and knitting from my two grandmothers — both incredibly skilled and creative women.
Fueguita, meaning "little fire," symbolizes the strength and spark within every woman, the fire used to create vibrant colours in our textiles, and the quiet passion behind our work.
After moving to Guatemala, I discovered the enormous secondhand clothing scene. I began sourcing most of my wardrobe from local markets. It made me reflect on how much already exists, and how often those pieces just need a bit of extra care. I started adding embroidery to the ones that caught my eye. That’s how Fueguita began — with the idea of giving clothing a second life through thoughtful, detailed work.
Now, with a small team of brilliant Guatemalan women, we create one-of-a-kind pieces — upcycled shirts with hand embroidery.
Fueguita was born from a deep love of textiles, a curiosity to explore different techniques, and a commitment to creating something unique with a sustainable vision.
